All about the Indiana rescue of Cory, the Citron Cockatoo, BabyGirl, the Umbrella Cockatoo, & SammyBird, the Cockatiel!

The Indiana rescue of Cory, BabyGirl & SammyBird was NOT a typical parrot rescue. You see most people you go in and get the birds from are the bird abusers. This was NOT the case at all here. This couple was responsible for SAVING the birds lives!

It all started when the mom got a call at work,a vets office, from a lady who wanted to bring in her two Cockatoos for euthanasia. Of course she asked why and the lady said the birds were plucked and not pretty anymore. Now, being a kindhearted person the lady said NO!!!!!!!!! and offered to come and get the birds and care for them herself. She went to the ladies house and found a VERY plucked Cory & BabyGirl! BabyGirl also had a whole in her chest from self mutilation! They were extremely stressed and she could immediately see they needed her help! She was packing up Cory & BabyGirl, then named Sunny, when Cory kept screaming Logeeeee!!!  He was calling to the new Citron Cockatoo the lady had just gotten named Logan. When asked if Logan was going too, the lady said no she was keeping him because he was still pretty! Horrified the nice lady took Cory & BabyGirl home with her. She was not familiar with Cockatoo care so she started searching the web for proper care of Cockatoos. She bought them nice big new cages and gave them a huge quite room to live in. She bought them good food to eat, proper pellets, fruit and veggies, and cooked for them all the time.  Cory has missing toes, so she cut his food smaller so he could enjoy eating! Although BabyGirl & Cory were doing so much better living with their new mom, she always felt something more could be done for them, but what? She kept reading, researching, cooking & loving her two new babies but in her heart she wanted more for them. Her care and love kept Cory & BabyGirl alive and healthy until she heard about TOO cute rescue! Several phone calls and emails were exchanged before the meeting date was set. She was happy to know someone who LOVED Cockatoos and understood their needs would give them a loving FOREVER home. Although SammyBird was the family bird the nice lady did not want him to be alone so she sent him with Cory & BabyGirl to live happily ever after in their forever home!
